For as long as she can remember, Katelyn has been fascinated with the inner workings of people. This fascination led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences with an emphasis on Psychology and Sociology from Portland State University in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. Katelyn also has a lifelong passion for movement arts and before she entered into the world of psychotherapy, she spent her time devoted to teaching dance. She has over 15 years of experience working as a dance teacher, helping people of all ages find self-expression and emotional release through movement. Katelyn had long known that she was called to be a therapist and in 2017 she relocated to Santa Fe in order to pursue her Master's degree in Counseling at Southwestern College. Upon completing her internship at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center where she worked with a wide variety of individuals and couples, Katelyn opened her private practice in Santa Fe, NM.
Katelyn’s approach to therapy is rooted in interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, and depth psychology. Her therapeutic work is trauma informed and she enjoys weaving parts work, experiential methods, and body-based approaches into her client work. She specializes in relationship and couples therapy and is deeply committed to helping folks learn to relate in healthy, mature, and secure ways. Her depth therapy work with individuals, offers an approach that supports people in digging deep and getting to the heart of things.
In addition to her master’s degree in counseling, Katelyn has trained in several specialized modalities including: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), PACT couples therapy, and Psychodrama. She is constantly in awe of the healing capacity and resiliency that exists within each one of us. Personally, Katelyn has been through her own challenges and traumas that have taken her through darkness and into her own healing. Going through these struggles has helped her trust in the strength of the psyche to navigate dark, painful, and scary places and ultimately transform through them. She has also learned through experience that we cannot heal in isolation and is deeply grateful to those who have helped her on her path. She would be honored to walk with you on your healing journey.
“I no longer feared the darkness once I knew the phoenix in me would rise from the ashes.”
